School Hard

Principal Snyder orders Buffy and another student, Sheila, to decorate the school lounge in time for parent-teacher night. Spike arrives in Sunnydale with Drusilla, knocking down the "Welcome to Sunnydale" sign. He meets the Anointed One (Collin), who is planning an attack on the Slayer on St Vigeous night, two nights after the parent-teacher night.

When Buffy goes to the Bronze, she meets Spike who tells her he's going to kill her on St Vigeous. He leaves her confused, then lures Sheila into following him. Back in the library, Giles tries to find out about Spike. Angel appears to tell them Spike is dangerous, and then disappears as suddenly as he arrives.

On parent-teacher night, Willow is busy showing Buffy's mother around the school, such that she would not be able to see any of Buffy's teachers. However, Snyder comes up to Joyce, and asks to see her in his office. In the library, Giles finally finds some information about Spike, a.k.a. William the Bloody, who has earned his nickname by torturing his victims with railway spikes (or for some other reason which they didn't see fit to mention on the show heeheehee). Just as Giles is relieved that Spike is not even as old as Angel, he finds that Spike is the killer of two Slayers. Joyce emerges from Snyder's office, clearly not pleased. She orders Buffy to get in the car, but all of a sudden a group of vampires appears.

In the school, confusion erupts as people try to run to safety. Buffy and her mother and a group of people (including Snyder) hides in a science classroom, Willow and Cordelia in a closet, and Giles and Jenny in the library. A vampire tries to open the classroom door by crashing into it. Spike gets him to use an axe, and as the door is being hacked down, Snyder and another man decide to escape through an opening, except the man was pulled out. Buffy is crawling through the ceiling space and Spike starts to poke metal poles into the ceiling, one barely missing Buffy. Just as the door is chopped through, Buffy lands behind that vampire and dusts him.

Angel and Xander arrives in the school. Xander is confused by Angel's behaviour as he hugs Spike. Angel tries to hint to Xander he is only acting, but Xander refuses to believe him. Angel offers Spike Xander to test Spike. Just then, Buffy runs into Sheila, who vamps out and tries to hit Buffy with the axe. Giles sees them from the library and yells a warning. Buffy dodges the attack, and lets out the people caged in the classroom.

Back to Spike and Angel. Spike has seen through Angel's tricks, as Angel is his sire. Spike orders the other vampires to attack as he starts to fight Buffy. Just as Spike is about to deliver the final blow, he is hit on the head by Joyce. Buffy has in the meantime recovered, ready to take on Spike, who runs off.

Joyce tells Buffy what Snyder has said to her, but she says she is proud of her daughter for saving those other people. Buffy is shocked but pleased at the same time. Willow and Cordelia remains forgotten as they hides in the closet. In the warehouse, Collin is mad at Spike for ruining the feast of St Vigeous by acting rashly. Spike pretends to be sorry, but changes his mind and hauls the "annoying one" up to the roof, reducing him to ashes.

Quotes

Willow: She was already smoking in fifth grade. Once I was lookout for her.
Xander: You're bad to the bone.
Willow: I'm a rebel.

Spike: A lot faster than Nancy-boy there. Yeah, I did a couple Slayers in my time. I don't like to brag. (pause) Who am I kidding? I *love* to brag!

Buffy (studying French): La vache... doit me... touche... de la... jeudi.

Spike: Nice work, love.
Buffy: Who are you?
Spike: You'll find out on Saturday.
Buffy: What happens on Saturday?
Spike: I kill you.

Willow (commenting on Angels' past): Wow, two centuries of dating. If you only had two a year, that's still, like, four hundred dates with four hundred different... (there's a mace on the table) Why do they call it a mace?

Xander (after Angel disappears): Okay, that's it. I'm puttin' a collar with a little bell on that guy.

Cordelia: So, can I go now? She doesn't need this many stakes. I mean, if this guy Spike is as mean as you all said, it should be over pretty quickly. We're still all rooting for you on Saturday. I'd be there for you myself if I didn't have a leg wax.

Spike (arriving at the school): What can I say? I couldn't wait.

Spike: (holding a man) I'm a veal kind of guy. You're too old to eat. (grabs his head and snaps his neck) But not to kill. I feel better.

Spike: Slaaayer! Here, kitty, kitty. I find one of your friends first, I'm gonna suck 'em dry. And use their bones to bash your head in.

Joyce: Don't be an idiot!
Snyder: I'm beginning to see a certain mother-daughter resemblance.

Spike: You think you can fool me?! You were my sire, man! You were my Yoda!

Buffy: (holding the ax) Do we really need weapons for this?
Spike: I just like them. They make me feel all manly.

Joyce: (hitting Spike with an axe) You get the hell away from my daughter!
Spike: Women!

(in the closet) Cordelia: And if you get me out of this, I swear I'll never be mean to anyone ever again. Unless they *really* deserve it. Or if it's that time of the month, in which case I don't think you or anyone else can hold me responsible.
Willow: Ask for some aspirin.
Cordelia: And can you please send some aspirin... Hey!

Spike: A Slayer with family and friends. That sure as hell wasn't in the brochure.

Spike: I was rash, and if I had to do it all over again... (laughs) Who am I kidding? (stands up) I would do it exactly the same, only I'd do this first! (throws Collin in cage, and raises it into the sunlight)
